Steve shares his love of photography and jR Customization!
* Why you love photography?
“This sounds like an easy question, but it’s not!! There’s something about photography that when you pick up the camera to go do a shoot you change as a person. You get a big rush of adrenaline to capture just the right image, the ones where people go “wow!” For me it’s also the freedom to be creative, to show my clients how I see them through the lens and tell their story.”
* Your favorite type of photography?
“Weddings & Portraits. They can be somewhat fast pace, but that suits me. I love the buzz of the shoot, the difference of emotions, changing conditions and the freedom / creativeness it allows.”
* A funny/interesting photography story?
“None that I could tell! Lol!”
* Photography tips or tricks?
“For those that are still finding their way in this mass market (and there’s room for all of us), I would recommend a professional course in your chosen route. For me, I took a course with The Trained Eye in wedding photography and boy that was money well spent! The knowledge that came through was beyond what I could’ve ever imagined.”
* Comments about your web site design?
“I had a web site that was OK, but lacked so many features; it was one of those “buy on line” sites. On a recent course I was chatting with another photographer who mentioned he was using Smugmug as part of his online gallery and printing service. I took a look and from the outside it seemed to have what I wanted, but I was unsure if it could meet all of my requirements in basically starting from scratch and rebuilding my web site. The biggest thumbs up from the start had to be that Smugmug used Loxley Colour for printing which was already my preferred supplier. After loads of reading blogs and looking through other folks web sites I took the plunge. The next hurdle was whether to use the basic sections and spend hours going through tutorials or do I get someone to take the pain away!? It was good to see that Smugmug had taken the time to pull a select few companies together that they had obviously tested, monitored and trusted to help folks like me bring their site to life. I created a document (my wish list) and fired it off to the recommended suppliers. Being in the UK I already appreciated that most of the companies would be in the USA and this could be a lengthy correspondence process. To my amazement, within a short amount of time I received a reply – It was jR Customization who had taken the time to read my brief and reply with notes against each one. Other companies replied but they wanted to skype or wanted a UK agent to call, but hey, we are all busy bees and I was already holding down a full time job. I seemed to click with jR Customization from the start, it was the way that he responded to my emails, and he was already thinking of ideas for me before I had even pushed the button! Lol!
Needless to say I went with jR Customization – what can I say, with an amazing service, they created just what I wanted and beyond. There were loads of technical issues that he sorted out that I wouldn’t have had a clue about. Here’s the best bit: I’m in the UK and he’s in the USA, no phone calls, no skype, no worries about time differences, no problems in transferring images, no problems with anything – now that’s what I call a service. I would recommend any photographer to use jR Customization – in a few simple words, they do what they says they can do – and that’s to customize your site to a professional standard.
